Rob Saffer is CMS’s executive director. Saffer is a creative and communications executive with 30 years experience leading media brands from ABC to MTV, among others. He has worked at agencies and companies, owned and operated his own agency, and has volunteered in the nonprofit world for 25 years, advising organizations such as Celebrate Brooklyn, The Brooklyn Museum, Symphony Space, Jazz Workshop and many others. He worked with Sue Mingus to establish the Mingus Big Band and with Symphony Space's founder on programming.
In addition to his work with CMS, Rob is co-founder of the Overlook Mountain Center, an environmental nonprofit and is on the founding committee that created the Lev Shalem Institute, a Jewish retreat center. Rob is also a radio producer and programmer for WGXC-FM (.org) in Hudson, NY. His show, "Overlooked," focuses on under-heard music from around the world. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and also attended the Sorbonne (Paris) and University of London’s Kings College. He lives in Woodstock, NY in a LEED-certified house he designed and built.
